Advocacy Services

Advocacy services are designed to assist deaf or hard of hearing people and their families in becoming full participating members of our community. DSC supports full inclusion for people who are deaf and hard of hearing in all community activities. Staff work with deaf and hard of hearing people in understanding and pursuing their rights related to ADA legislation.

ADA Technical Assistance

DSC provides assistance to organizations in finding cost effective means to meet their responsibilities under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).


A DSC program funded by the City of Columbus that purchases equipment that helps deaf and hard of hearing residents in Columbus, make their homes accessible.

Community Education

DSC provides sign language classes and one-on-one tutoring. DSC also maintains a list of companies, organizations and freelance instructors that provide ASL instruction.

Information and Referral Services

DSC is considered a central source of information on Deafness. DSC refers deaf and hard of hearing people to appropriate service providers throughout Central Ohio.

Peer Support

DSC helps deaf and hard of hearing individuals by providing support and linkage to information/resources that help them make decisions in problem solving their daily living issues.

Speakers Bureau

DSC provides presentations to help educate the community on a wide range of topics related to deafness.
