Kids of Deaf Adults (KODA)

In May of 2008, Deaf Services Center received a grant from Advocates for Kids to create a KODA project. This project is to bring together children of deaf adults (KODA's) together and have them interact with each other and learn from each other. The mission of this project is to have the kids know that they are not the only ones out there that have deaf parents and this would be a learning experience for the participants. In addtion, parents will be able to meet and interact with each other, learning of how to raise their hearing children through social events and workshops. Special thanks must be given to Advocates for Kids for making this possible.

We will be having events throughtout the year to further intereaction and development of kids of deaf adults (KODA), and bolstering their understanding/acceptance of being hearing in a deaf world and dealing with their hearing peers about their deaf parents.

If you wish to become involved or learn more about this, please contact Marsha Moore at kodaohio@dsc.org.
